Hello! I am Mark Anderson, owner / photographer. I have been shooting since I was about 10, when I also first experienced the wonders of the darkroom. I was lucky that my home town Boys’ club had a darkroom and that a friendly engineer from Grumman Aerospace (I grew up on Long Island) was kind enough to share his knowledge with me and a handful of other kids. Thank you Harry Roslund wherever you may be! |
I took a non-typical path to photographer as a career. For the first, 25+ years, I was an electrical engineer / manager generally working in the combined fields of computer software and factory automation. Having gotten burned out, I left my global software manager’s job at a Fortune 5 company to start my own photography business, one that kept the customer focus in mind and that was intended to be fun for both me any my customers!Following my broad range of photographic passions, I shoot a lot of youth sports, nature, wildlife and landscape. I love doing family portraits, seniors, and weddings. And along the way I have shot commercially oriented subjects such as business people, performers and models needing publicity photos and portfolios, and product photography for catalogs and websites.
There’s more to great professional photography than having a fancy camera! After all, every Uncle Bob at a wedding has one – or thinks he does! The art, the passion, the experience and the results – these things differentiate my fellow professionals from an Uncle Bob! You may never even see those snapshots from Uncle Bob – he may lose the disk or forget where he filed them on his computer. And of course, after that last PC crash, all hope was lost anyway! But an Uncle Bob can’t provide the finished creations that people really want. Fine art books, coffee table wedding albums, carefully retouched portraits and master printing simply are not available at the local drugstore lab!
Please wander around my blog and website as you will, enjoying the many images you will come across along with some of the commentary and notes that will accumulate as I blog my way along. Have a question? Drop me a note! Add a comment as you will. I can only hope that you enjoy my work and will find in it a sense of what I can do and how I might apply that to your own photographic needs.
In June of 2008 I changed my business name to the current name, MJ Anderson Photography as I found that most of my clients recognized that my personality and style were such a key element of my work!
Enjoy!
